Rosewood Mini Guitar
Cutaway Concert
This cutaway is very similar to an instrument I made last year. In fact, I started it at the same
time as that ukulele, but I just now finished it. The wood looks almost identical, as wood is
consecutively cut.
The koa for this instrument is dark and curly, with very nice color and stripping. The
fingerboard and bridge are a Brazilian Rosewood look alike, Madagascar Rosewood. The
binding is East Indian Rosewood. The koa headstock overlay "R," fingerboard markers, as
well as side dots and the soundhole rosette are all inlayed in abalone. The mahogany neck
is reinforced with a carbon fiber truss rod for added strength and stability. The neck is joined
to the body at the 14th fret using the traditional Spanish heal method. There are 19 frets in
all. The nut and compensated saddle are made of bone. It has gold colored, Gotoh geared
tuners with ebony buttons.
