Dubbed the "Shellele" for it's
shell-shaped sound holes, the
placement of which allows the single
cross brace to be moved closer to
the fingerboard, enlarging the area
of the top primarily responsible for
generating sound.  Fan braces
provide the strength needed to
resist deformation under tension.

Spruce concert. 14 frets to the body with
19 frets total.  Ebony fingerboard and
bridge with a compensated bone saddle
and bone nut.  Herringbone rosette and
koa binding.
The neck of this koa tenor cutaway
is joined at the 14th fret, it has 19
frets total, and a 18.5" scale.  As
with all my ukuleles the neck is
reinforced with a carbon fiber rod
and attached to the body using a
traditional Spanish heel.  This
method not only guarantees that
the neck will never separate from
the body, but I feel that it makes a
very positive connection between
the neck and the body, and as a
result, enhances sustain as well..
